Summertime birds across Central Florida

Roger Simmons, June 9, 2026June 9, 2026

Fall, winter and spring are the “hot” times for birding in Central Florida. Things slow down as the temperatures go up in summer.

While many migratory visitors have moved on, there is still a tremendous variety of birds to photograph across the area. It’s just a bit more uncomfortable with the heat, humidity and omnipresent mosquitos.

Here are just a few of the summertime Florida birds I have photographed recently:

Red-bellied Woodpecker, Osceola County, June 2026.
