Eagles, falcons and kites are all pretty big birds, meaning their easy to spot and pretty easy to photograph.
That’s not the case with many of the little birds that can be found in Central Florida, including warblers and vieros.
On a recent trip to Lake Marian in Osceola County, I came across a number of little birds feeding on insects in an oak tree and nearby brush.
I was happy to see a flock of Northern Parulas, tiny 4-inch birds who spend summer here before migrating to Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean for winter. I also came across another member of the warbler family, a Prairie Warbler.
And, though they are hard to spot, I also found a White-eyed Vireo, which has a wonderful song but is pretty reclusive.
