People love autumn for the changing colors of the leaves. I love it because it signals more of the color pink — the return of Roseate Spoonbills.
Over at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge on a recent Sunday morning, I came across several Roseates. Three more flew overhead. I know this is just the start and more will be arriving soon.
I’m not sure what it is about these birds that is so captivating, but I love to watch and photograph them.
So happy fall — it’s time to think pink.
Last April I photographed a male Indigo Bunting and a female Painted Bunting at Orlando Wetlands. Guess who’s back at the wetlands?
Brown Pelicans are here all the time, so I rarely bother to photograph them unless I see something special.
