I’ve said it before and I will say it again: The Orlando Wetlands is a magical place.
As the photos below from a couple of trips in February illustrate, the number and diversity of birds at the facility is impressive.
The Roseate Spoonbills grab the attention of most visitors, and that’s only been increasing now that little “teaspoons” are hatching. But there are so many other birds around worth photographing.
There were more than 100 Swallow-tailed Kites roosting about. But after a rough night, skimming across the water wasn’t part of their plans.
The Black-and-white Warbler wasn’t the only bird who decided to drop by my yard for a visit. Here are some of my recent guests.
Even though it’s the slow summer season for birding, I know that a visit to the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive will usually supply something memorable. And that was the case when I visited on Saturday, July 22.
