I had to go to Osceola County on Wednesday evening for a work assignment. While driving around I came across the home of a Bald Eagle family – and lucky for me, the whole family was home.
The parents took turns staying by the nest or flying down to get some food for the youngster. The eaglet didn’t seem too happy when the parents would fly back.
I wasn’t expecting to see or photograph any Bald Eagles on this trip, but with birding you have to expect the unexpected.

Though the bird migration season is winding down, there are still scores of amazing birds at Fort DeSoto Park near St. Petersburg, and I was able to photograph 16 different types of birds.
The small part that I did see was impressive – a great pond with lots of wading birds and a rookery for egrets and other birds. An adult and juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron flew overhead, and a pair of Roseate Spoonbills were hanging around.
