Kaufeldt to head up new 9 a.m. show on Fox 35

Roger Simmons, July 29, 2009

With Sonni Abatta’s arrival as the new evening anchor for WOFL, you might have been wondering what will happen to Amy Kaufeldt. Fear not, Amy fans.

Napoli Management says the station has re-upped Kaufeldt, and she will be heading back to mornings — where she started at Fox 35 before leaving to launch the 5 p.m. newscast. Kaufeldt will co-anchor a new 9 a.m. show that starts in September — and will continue to anchor at 5 o’clock. The new 9 a.m. local show will replace the nationally syndicated “The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet,” which was canceled.

Thanks to the online archives of the Daytona Beach Morning Journal, we’ve discovered another Orlando TV station logo from long ago. Here’s one for then-Daytona Beach based WESH-2. This logo from 1965 touts the station as “Florida’s Channel 2” and incorporates the NBC “snake” logo. Based on our research, the…
