I went to Oviedo before sunset to try to see the visiting Hooded Merganser ducks in a different light.

This is the third consecutive year I’ve photographed these striking-looking ducks, who usually arrive when Thanksgiving is near.

Over the past several weeks I have come across a lot of Hooded Mergansers in different locations – some totally unexpected.

It took several visits to the same pond I saw them in last year before I came across these little ducks again, but the effort was worth it.
