A little time for the little birds

Roger Simmons, December 5, 2024December 5, 2024

It’s the time of the year when the weather has gotten cooler and little birds – warblers, wrens, sparrows and others – seem to be just about everywhere.

I am really surprised by how quickly these little birds invade the area. The Palm Warblers were the first to return, and I had been waiting to see some Yellow-rumped Warblers – aka “butter butts.” I finally saw one, and then suddenly they were everywhere.

But they aren’t the only little birds that are back. Here’s a sampling from a few recent area visits, mostly to the Orlando Wetlands.

One day, two trips and lots of birds at Orlando Wetlands

October 22, 2023October 22, 2023

I woke up fairly early and decided to head to the Orlando Wetlands. It was a cool, cloudy morning – but apparently I was in a fog. I was so disappointed in my photos I had to go back again later and try again.
