When hundreds of different types of birds suddenly take off, there’s usually a good reason.
When it happened on Saturday morning at the Orlando Wetlands Park, the reason was easy to understand – namely two Bald Eagles circling around.
After flying around for a bit, the two eagles landed in a tree – almost seemingly to enjoy the chaos they created. One finally took off, but the other stayed to savor the mayhem.
Last year, there were Roseates everywhere at the Wetlands in January and February – but I had not seen nearly as many this year.
My February included trips to Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, Orlando Wetlands, Joe Overstreet Road in Osceola County and Merritt Island Wildlife Drive.
The birds didn’t seem to care about the holiday, and the humans seemed to be sleeping in for it.
