When hundreds of different types of birds suddenly take off, there’s usually a good reason.
When it happened on Saturday morning at the Orlando Wetlands Park, the reason was easy to understand – namely two Bald Eagles circling around.
After flying around for a bit, the two eagles landed in a tree – almost seemingly to enjoy the chaos they created. One finally took off, but the other stayed to savor the mayhem.
The spot was Mead Garden in Winter Park, a wonderful oasis in our urban area and a magnet for a surprising number of birds.
A female Ruby-throated hummingbird had been reported at the Orlando Wetlands, but she kept me waiting for awhile before she showed up.
I was so excited back in May when I was able to take my first pictures of a Northern Parula at the Orlando Wetlands. Fast-forward to July, and it seems these birds are, dare I say, stalking me?
