Different focus: White Ibis with mangrove

Roger Simmons, September 2, 2024September 2, 2024

I typically zoom in on the birds when I photograph them, but I did something a little different with this photo.

It was taken along East Gator Creek Road at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge in August. Instead of focusing on the pretty White Ibis in this crop, I decided to show more of the surrounding area, include the blue water and the mangrove the ibis was standing near.

This photo was included in my last post, but it’s really grown on me since then, and I felt it deserved it’s own featured post. It’s become one of my most “liked” photos on the MINWR Facebook page.

Sometimes different is really better.
