I’ve been watching a lot of Barn Swallow lately, returning several times to Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive in an attempt to get some pictures of these darting birds.
It’s been a photography learning experience for me – trying to take pictures of these cool little blue birds as they zip past my camera. They’ve been great subjects as I experimented with focus, shutter speed and even different lenses.
The Barn Swallows at LAWD are usually found flying out from under a bridge where they nest. Sometimes they might be sitting on the bridge railing or in a nearby bush. But, for the most part, they’re busy zipping around in flight – and that’s where I tried my best to photograph them.
I still have a lot to learn about photographing Barn Swallows, but I had a lot of fun hanging out with them.
