Break from news: Zac Efron on SNL in HSM4

Roger Simmons, April 12, 2009

We pause briefly from our coverage of Orlando TV News for something that follows the news: Saturday Night Live.

If you caught Saturday’s show (following WESH 2 News — see, there’s a news reference), you know the host was Zac Efron. Anyone with a "tween" in their house (yep, I have one) knows he’s one of the stars of Disney’s High School Musical franchise. So, the funniest sketch of the night was Efron starring in High School Musical 4 — where he comes back to his fictional school to set the record straight about real life.

(BTW, Orlando Sentinel TV Guy Hal Boedeker reports that SNL was the top-rated show on Saturday night, beating everything in prime time. Instead of running Jay Leno at 10 p.m. Monday-Friday this fall, maybe NBC should consider SNL for that spot. Just wonderin’.)

You’ll likely notice some familiar call letters as well as some you may never seen before. Those lesser-known stations are Florida’s early UHF stations, such as…
