Roseate Report: Spoonie season in high gear

Roger Simmons, March 22, 2025March 22, 2025

Over at the Orlando Wetlands, everything is rosy for birders as the Roseate Spoonbills are putting on quite a show.

Little Roseate “teaspoon” babies are active in a lot of nests, frazzled parents are busy bringing food to the youngsters and there are still one or two nests with expectant parents anxiously waiting for hatchings.

The times I have visited the wetlands past couple of weeks the Cypress Boardwalk has been very crowded with photographers wanting to document the scene. While I am a little annoyed there are so many people there now, I can’t blame the newcomers. It’s fun to watch and photographer the pretty pink birds – especially this time of year.
