Black and White Warbler is an unexpected Thanksgiving guest
Roger Simmons,
I headed out to the Orlando Wetlands on Thanksgiving morning but left disappointed because I didn’t see many birds. However, I had reason to give thanks later in the day.
While out in the backyard deep-frying our Thanksgiving turkey (which was incredible, by the way), I looked up and saw a Black and White Warbler. This was the third time this bird (or one of its buddies) has visited my backyard, but I had not seen one in more than a month.
This holiday guest was a real surprise and allowed me to get some good photographs of it this time.
Maybe I should fry turkeys in the backyard more often if it attracts these birds?
I visited the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge hoping to see some Florida Scrub-Jays and some Bald Eagles. I was fortunate enough to see both, as well as some other birds
Since I started going to the Orlando Wetlands on Jan. 1, 2023, I’ve been trying – and ultimately failing – to get some decent pictures of the Bald Eagle couple who rule the roost at the park. Until now.
