Roseates are building excitement at Orlando Wetlands

Roger Simmons, February 22, 2025February 22, 2025

The past several weeks have been fun watching Roseate Spoonbills continue work on their nests at the Orlando Wetlands.

Many of the nests are located just off the Cypress Boardwalk, giving observers an up-close view of the Roseates’ home-improvement projects.

Males fly out to hunt for sticks, twigs and even pieces of fern to bring back to the females at the nests. After inspecting the proposed addition, the females take the offering and figure out where it should go in their home. Then the process repeats over and over again.

Some photos from a recent visit.
