When hundreds of different types of birds suddenly take off, there’s usually a good reason.
When it happened on Saturday morning at the Orlando Wetlands Park, the reason was easy to understand – namely two Bald Eagles circling around.
After flying around for a bit, the two eagles landed in a tree – almost seemingly to enjoy the chaos they created. One finally took off, but the other stayed to savor the mayhem.
In the continental U.S.’ southern-most city, there many great places to go birding – including conventional and unconventional places.
Overall, there were shore birds I expected to see and some other birds that I was a bit surprised to find so far away from the mainland.
These strange-looking birds with their big orange and black beaks swoop down and “skim” across the water, creating their own wakes.
