When hundreds of different types of birds suddenly take off, there’s usually a good reason.
When it happened on Saturday morning at the Orlando Wetlands Park, the reason was easy to understand – namely two Bald Eagles circling around.
After flying around for a bit, the two eagles landed in a tree – almost seemingly to enjoy the chaos they created. One finally took off, but the other stayed to savor the mayhem.
It was a windy, cloudy Saturday when my wife Lisa and I decided to visit the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, but we had a goal in mind: Try to see a Painted Bunting.
I visited Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive this past Sunday knowing I would see a lot of different birds there but hoping to see one kind in particular: Barn Swallows.
My most recent trip to the Orlando Wetlands on Sunday, August 6, started by spotting a group of 16 (!) baby Black-bellied Whistling Ducks and ended with photographs of an elusive Belted Kingfisher.
