Some random notes from the weekend …
- WKMG’s Flashpoint public affairs show — which was bounced from its Sunday morning perch to replace Local 6’s canceled Sunday night sports shows — has returned to its former home. That’s a good thing. The Lauren Rowe-hosted show fits in well following CBS’ Sunday Morning and Face The Nation.
- For those who didn’t realize that WESH airs a tape-delayed version of the Today show on weekends, there was probably some double-takes on Saturday. As Today’s Lester Holt was conducting an interview with a CNBC correspondent on the Today show set, the show was interrupted by an NBC News special report on Hurricane Ike — anchored by Lester Holt. After Holt signed up, WESH picked up the Today feed — with Holt in the middle of his interview with the CNBC colleague.
- An e-mail to RogerSimmons.com mailbag: “IS THERE ANY NEWS THAT HAS HAPPENED AFTER JULY, JACQUELINE LONDON HAS GOTTEN ENGAGED, I GUESS YOU MISSED THAT ONE.” Yep, sure did. But congrats to Jacqueline and thanks for the e-mail.
