Kaufeldt to head up new 9 a.m. show on Fox 35

July 29th, 2009 1 comment »

With Sonni Abatta’s arrival as the new evening anchor for WOFL, you might have been wondering what will happen to Amy Kaufeldt. Fear not, Amy fans.

Napoli Management says the station has re-upped Kaufeldt, and she will be heading back to mornings — where she started at Fox 35 before leaving to launch the 5 p.m. newscast. Kaufeldt will co-anchor a new 9 a.m. show that starts in September — and will continue to anchor at 5 o’clock. The new 9 a.m. local show will replace the nationally syndicated “The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet,” which was canceled.

WKMG’s Tom Sorrells and ‘the most important story I’ve ever done’

July 28th, 2009 No comments »

lightningstrikesWKMG is living up to its “Local” 6 moniker Wednesday night, taking an hour of prime time to focus on something that impacts Central Floridians nearly every day: Lightning.

“Lightning Strikes,” which airs at 8 p.m., is a program that looks how we cope with living in one of the world’s lightning hot spots.

“We do stories about victims, survivors, myth vs. truths, explain how lightning starts, how best to avoid it and how to protect your home and your family,” WKMG chief meteorologist Tom Sorrells explained via e-mail. “The first story out of the gate is a tragic piece out of Titusville. I covered the story, and I’ve seen the finished product. I feel it may be the most important story I’ve ever done.”

More from Sorrells after the jump …

Whoa! Something’s changed about RogerSimmons.com

July 28th, 2009 3 comments »
Please Stand By

Please Stand By

If you’re a regular visitor to RogerSimmons.com, you may notice things are a little different. In a good news-bad news situation, traffic to RogerSimmons.com has been great — so great that the site was putting too much of a load on my Web host. I was told I needed to sign up for a somewhat expensive dedicated server for the site or make some changes. So … welcome to the changes.

For the Geeks out there who are interested, I’ve switched from Joomla to WordPress for the site’s content management system. WordPress is great, but I’m still figuring out how to get things to display the way I want. So, I ask for your patience as I get everything back up — please pardon missing images or any broken links you may come across.

We’ll be back to normal soon.
